OUR STORY

HOW EVERYTHING STARTED

Team Founding

The team begins its journey with the first official recruitment. Organizes internally, acquires the basic knowledge it needs and is ready to start the first design steps.

2017

FSAE Italy

The team's first participation is a fact and it ends successfully by taking 2nd place in the Business Plan Presentation competition and 8th place in the overall classification of the category.

2017-July

Racecar Construction

The team returns to Xanthi and aims to build the first racecar, with now adapted designs, based on observations from feedback from the races.

2018

Competition in Class 1 of FSAE Italy

The team completes the construction of its first car. "Argo" participates in the Class 1 category of Formula Student competitions, and ranks 20th among international teams. In September he presents at the 84th D.E.Th. "Argo" as the central exhibit of the D.P.Th.

2019

After a year of inactivity due to Covid-19 in 2021 we came back strongly with our participation in the Formula Student Netherlands competition in which we won 6th place out of 27 teams from all over Europe.

2021

Formula Student Alpe Adria

Following the developments and the new reality in the automotive industry, we decided to make the change to electromobility. After a year of planning, testing and manufacturing we managed to build our first electric car the E-XR1. In August 2022 we took part in the Formula Student Alpe Adria competition in Croatia.

2022

Who we are

Democritus Racing Team was founded in 2017 in Xanthi. The team represents the Democritus University of Thrace in the Formula Student and FSAE (Formula Society of Automotive Engineers) engineering training events, facing students from all over the world.

What we do

The aim of the competitions is to design, compose and test a prototype single seater "style" Formula racing car, based on a set of regulations, the purpose of which is not only to ensure road-racing safety but at the same time to solve complex problems in the field of engineering.

Our members

COMPETITIONS

COMPETITION AIMS TO..

STATIC EVENTS

The main goal of the competition is the practical application of all the theoretical knowledge that each student receives. This is achieved through the design and construction of a racing single-seater Formula type, but also through the investigation of its perspective as a mass production model.

DYNAMIC EVENTS
